So far, I’ve been in Vancouver for about 3 months. During the time, I experienced a lot of interesting and meaningful events and made many new friends. Though I felt lonely and homesick at first, I have been adapted to the life in Vancouver till now. ELI courses taught me a lot of useful academic skills and showed me pleasant studying surroundings. Even thought it rarely being sunny in Vancouver, I enjoyed everyday in ELI. Not only the CAs but also the teachers were humorous, friendly and helpful. Now, here coming the end of this term. Although it’s not realistic, I still hope that we can get along with each other for more time. In different classes, I communicated with classmates that came from different countries. They were passionate and conversable. I have known varieties of custom in several countries. One interesting thing was that I sometimes contacted with my Japanese friend – Yuki through writing. Because some letters between China and Japan were so similar that Yuki can recognize it easily. When we didn’t know how to say a word in English, we wrote it to each other. Thus, we can communicate with each other better. Time always goes quickly when you feel pleased. I want to appreciate many things, but I don’t know how to begin. Recently, I have seen a special TV show called “Wild China”, which was screened by China and British. It was a documentary about natural and human life in China. Lots of remarkable and magical landscape was showed in this TV program. Even though I am a Chinese, I have never heard and seen some of the creatures or places which appeared in this show. The great beauty made me surprised and proud!!
Chinese civilisation is the oldest, and today, it’s the largest. Even though China is facing immense social and environmental problems, we don’t slow the pace, starting to bloom after a long period of sleeping. Beijing successfully held the 2008 Olympic Games, what makes the whole world pay attention to the development of China. In addition, Shanghai is going to hold the 2010 Expo. Expect for these two momentous events’ positive effect, our country is still facing lots of problems. We have natural disaster, such as the 5.12 Earthquake. Even though there are challenges, our national spirit is strongly united. I love my motherland, and I hope that China will become more and more powerful in the world.

Last month, I took part in the event for volunteer club. Our work was just to do some cleaning for the Ride for the Diabetes Research. The other volunteers and I met at ELI lobby, waiting for Elisha and Tomo, who were CA. The destination was much more beautiful than I had thought. At first I thought that we might go to a hospital or sanatorium. However, the event was held on the ground near Vancouver Art Gallery. It looked like a building which was built in the Middle Ages. There were a huge white tent on the ground. A large number of people was riding a kind of electronic bike with a piece of passionate music. They were all excited and active. Some of the participants were exhausted, vomiting painfully at the corner. Before we started cleaning, we were invited to have some food and drinks at first. How amazing it was! We were volunteer, hoping to do some works for the society without payment. However, we were treated as a guest! When the event was over, we began to move the desks, pick up the garbage, recycle the bottles. Everything went in a right way. But it began to rain suddenly, we had to walk in the muddy lawn. My shoes became brown thoroughly.Though it was raining outside, we worked hard. After all work had been finished, we took photos with the CAs and organizers. That was an unforgettable experience. It was full of laugh and memory. I hope that I have the opportunity to be an volunteer again in the future!~

I love writing very much, especially writing diary!~ I think it's really fun to have a cup of coffee and write my diary duing the night!! Writing has become a necessary part of my life. Sometimes, we are not brave enough to say the things that we want to express to others. However, through the things we write, people can understand our feeling exactly. I think writing can deepen the relationship between people. We can communite with parents, friends and teachers wherever we are if we use internet. Write to somebody can also show your sincerity. Depend on the reasons which I have mentioned, writing is very useful and interesting to me. Let's enjoy writing everyday!!~

Time always goes quickly when people don't realize it. Two weeks have gone so far. I was glad that I have attended 420w, because my teacher and classmates are very friendly and warm-hearted.This course is more interesting than I have thought. The class is always in a harmonious atmosphere. Sometimes we may have some difficulties in doing exercises. At that time,classmates are all willing to help you and answer your questions. I didn't know much about writing before I attend this class. But I have known something about it after I read the textbook. Such as different kinds of mistakes, brainstorming and so on. I am making progress in writing. I try having a complete plan before i write an article. Lots of habits have been formed during this course. I hope that i can learn much more about writing in the future.
